Dear future English 110.01 students,

When I started this class as a young fresh faced freshman I did not know what to expect. I had been to English classes before, but this was a whole different ball game. On the first day after I received my syllabus I knew that my life would be different after taking this class, and I knew that this class was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Over the course of the quarter there have been many different types of assignments from reading the page turner, Writing Analytically, to writing blog prompts such as these, and the awe inspiring 7 page ARP.
To succeed in this class you have to be open to new ideas and new experiences. It also takes time and effort. One must actually do the reading to understand how to write the papers and the commonplace essay that were required for this course. There were also thematic readings that went along with each class session that allowed for further study of the course material that were integral to ones success. To be successful one must actually do the work. You can get by without doing any of the readings, but why even come to class if you are not there to learn. This is not the place to just try and skirt by.

Good Luck,
Terasia Bradford

  1. You give some good pointers here and touch on a lot of key things. I like your point at the end that if you don't do the readings, you don't get as much out of the class. Your tone is a little stiffer than it needs to be in the second paragraph, but the content is solid.
